Transformer Components

Semi-finished products together with its inherent properties are manufactured from selected raw materials over well-thought-out stable processes. We first manufacture them into single components using our ideas and resources and then assemble them into components. Our components support energy transfer, creating benefits and value for humanity.

The Insulator

Insulators for Bushings can be made from various materials such as porcelain, glass, epoxy resin or fiberglass reinforced plastics. All have their advantages and disadvantages depending on the application. The most commonly used material is porcelain. The main components are: kaolin, clay, quartz, feldspar, dolomite, calcite, chalk. In particular, the high quartz content in conjunction with the other raw materials gives insulators high strength values and wear resistance.

First, the hard materials are finely ground in drum mills together with water. The plastic raw materials are then added and mixed and pressed into chamber filters. In a vacuum extruder, the mass cakes are processed into a mass strand, whereby the mass is simultaneously freed of trapped air using a vacuum.

In further work steps such as turning using templates, drying, annealing, glazing and smooth firing, the finished product is gradually created.

The Conductor

Copper is extracted from various ores. These are first ground very finely. Ore enrichment into copper concentrates is carried out using the flotation process. Minerals in an ore slurry are separated from one another based on different surface properties. To do this, finely ground raw ore is slurried in water, to which certain chemicals and foaming agents that influence the wettability of the minerals are added. In this way, ore concentrates are obtained whose copper content is between 20 and 30%. Raw copper is then obtained by roasting, which is purified in a subsequent electrolytic refining process and thus becomes pure copper. The copper is then formed into semi-finished products such as blocks, sheets, plates, rods, etc. using various manufacturing techniques. The bolts (conductors) are manufactured from the semi-finished products, primarily using machining processes such as sawing, mechanical processing, sandblasting, punching, forging, etc.

The Bushing

Although the conductor, insulator and the flag of a bushing are the most important parts, it of course also consists of various other parts. The composition of the parts is carried out taking into account the customer and relevant standard requirements in the development and construction phase. Once the parts have been developed, semi-finished products have been procured and production has been carried out, the parts are put together in a final assembly to form a bushing or another component, carefully packaged and shipped to our customers.
